SEVENFRIDAY, founded in 2012 by Daniel Niederer, rapidly gained recognition for its distinctive approach to watchmaking, blending industrial design with a rebellious spirit. The brand’s name itself embodies a philosophy of living each day with the joy and freedom of a Friday. This ethos is reflected in their watches, which often feature bold, unconventional designs that challenge traditional watch aesthetics. SEVENFRIDAY's early models, like the P-Series and M-Series, quickly became popular among those seeking something different from the usual Swiss luxury watch offerings. The brand’s commitment to quality, coupled with its innovative marketing strategies, helped it carve out a unique niche in the watch market. Sevenfriday watches are not just timekeeping devices; they are statements of individuality and a celebration of creativity.

ROCKETBYZ, the artistic alter ego of Tomyboy, is known for his vibrant and energetic work that spans across various mediums, from canvas to high-end products. Tomyboy’s art is characterized by its bold use of fluorescent colors, dynamic compositions, and a distinctive style that bridges the gap between street art and contemporary design. Operating between Los Angeles and Europe, Tomyboy has made a name for himself by transforming everyday objects into unique art pieces. His collaborations often involve taking recognizable items and infusing them with his signature flair, creating pieces that are both visually striking and conceptually rich. ROCKETBYZ is not just about aesthetics; it’s about pushing boundaries and challenging perceptions, much like SEVENFRIDAY’s approach to watchmaking.

The story of the SEVENFRIDAY x ROCKETBYZ collaboration began in 2013 when Tomyboy, a fan of the brand, received a SEVENFRIDAY watch from a friend. Inspired, he hand-painted the watch with neon colors and sent it to Daniel Niederer. Although the watch was rendered unwearable and far from waterproof, its design was undeniably cool. This spontaneous act of creativity sparked a friendship and laid the groundwork for their first official collaboration in 2015. The initial release was a limited series of 50 neon, hand-painted watches that sold out in a mere two hours. In 2020, they followed up with another successful collaboration that incorporated carbon elements into the design, which also sold out rapidly. The latest iteration, the 3.0 version, continues this tradition of innovation and exclusivity, promising to be just as sought after.

The SEVENFRIDAY x ROCKETBYZ 3.0 watches are a testament to the synergy between the two brands, blending SEVENFRIDAY's industrial-inspired design with ROCKETBYZ's vibrant artistic style. These watches are not for the faint of heart; they are bold, bright, and unapologetically unconventional. Each watch in this limited series is a canvas for Tomyboy's creativity, featuring a riot of colors and playful details that are sure to turn heads. The use of 3D printing technology, a first for SEVENFRIDAY, adds a new dimension to the watches, literally and figuratively. The 3D printed elements, made from PA11 or PA12 MJF, include the "R" and "WTF" logos, which not only glow in the dark but also react to UV light, adding an element of fun and interactivity.

The "time capsule" case of the SEVENFRIDAY x ROCKETBYZ 3.0 is crafted from 316L stainless steel, treated with a gunmetal PVD coating. This gives the watch a sleek, industrial look that contrasts beautifully with the vibrant colors of the dial and strap. The case measures 45.25 x 45mm without the 3D printed protection gear, and 54.15 x 52.8mm with it, making it a substantial presence on the wrist. The use of gunmetal PVD extends to the logo plate, which features a neon pink Rocketbyz logo screwed onto a 3D printed shell. This combination of materials and finishes creates a watch that is both robust and visually striking.

The dial of the SEVENFRIDAY x ROCKETBYZ 3.0 is a masterpiece of 3D printing and artistic expression. The domed discs for hours, minutes, and seconds are a departure from traditional watch hands, offering a unique way to read the time. The hour disc is positioned at 13h, while the minute disc is at 6h, surrounded by CNC machined pointers in stainless steel with a gunmetal treatment. The use of neon colors and hand-applied lume on the discs ensures that the watch is not only eye-catching during the day but also glows vibrantly in the dark and under UV light. Each dial is a unique work of art, reflecting the playful and energetic spirit of ROCKETBYZ.

Powering the SEVENFRIDAY x ROCKETBYZ 3.0 is the Swiss automatic movement Sellita SW300-1. This reliable movement boasts a 42-hour power reserve, 25 jewels, and a bi-directional rotor winding mechanism. Known for its accuracy and durability, the Sellita SW300-1 is a fitting choice for a watch that combines high-end craftsmanship with avant-garde design. The movement is housed within the gunmetal-treated stainless steel case, ensuring that the watch is as robust as it is beautiful. The 3 ATM water resistance means that while it’s not designed for deep-sea diving, it can handle everyday splashes and rain without issue.

The strap of the SEVENFRIDAY x ROCKETBYZ 3.0 is hand-stitched calfskin leather, providing a comfortable and luxurious feel on the wrist. The strap inserts feature separated elements made from 3D printed PA12 MJF, adding to the watch's unique aesthetic. These 3D printed elements vary in color depending on the model, with options including blue, green, pink, and yellow. The combination of traditional leather craftsmanship and modern 3D printing technology creates a strap that is both stylish and durable. Each strap is designed to complement the vibrant colors of the dial, making the watch a cohesive and eye-catching piece.

The FDBX/03 model features a white case with blue, green, and pink highlights. The blue 3D printed PA12 MJF strap insert is paired with a white 3D printed "R" element that glows in the dark and reacts to neon light. The hour disc is neon blue with yellow digits and tracks, featuring hand-applied yellow lume. The minute disc is neon pink with white digits and tracks, and hand-applied white lume. The "WTF" element is also 3D printed in pink, adding to the watch's vibrant and playful design. This model is a perfect example of how SEVENFRIDAY and ROCKETBYZ have combined their respective styles to create a watch that is both a functional timepiece and a wearable piece of art.

The FDBX/04 model features a black case with green, blue, yellow, and pink highlights. The green 3D printed PA12 MJF strap insert is complemented by a pink 3D printed "R" element that glows in the dark and reacts to neon light. The hour disc remains neon blue with yellow digits and tracks, and hand-applied yellow lume. The minute disc is neon pink with white digits and tracks, and hand-applied white lume. The "WTF" element is 3D printed in pink, adding a pop of color to the black case. This model offers a slightly more subdued yet still vibrant option for those who prefer a darker base color.

The FDBX/05 model, also featuring a black case, highlights yellow and blue accents. The black 3D printed PA12 MJF strap insert is paired with a yellow 3D printed "R" element that glows in the dark and reacts to neon light. The hour disc is neon blue with yellow digits and tracks, featuring hand-applied yellow lume. The minute disc is neon pink with white digits and tracks, and hand-applied white lume. The "WTF" element is 3D printed in yellow, creating a cohesive and striking design. This model is a testament to the versatility of the SEVENFRIDAY x ROCKETBYZ collaboration, offering a range of options to suit different tastes.

The case back of the SEVENFRIDAY x ROCKETBYZ 3.0 features a 3D printed rotor cover in PA11 or PA12 MJF with a Riley logo. This attention to detail extends to the NFC chip embedded in the back of the watch, which allows for authenticity verification through the SEVENFRIDAY app for iOS and Android. This innovative feature ensures that each watch is genuine and provides a seamless way for owners to connect with the brand. The combination of traditional watchmaking craftsmanship and modern technology is a hallmark of SEVENFRIDAY's approach, and the 3.0 version is no exception.

The front of the SEVENFRIDAY x ROCKETBYZ 3.0 features a TV-shaped double-domed sapphire glass with an inner anti-reflective coating, providing a clear and unobstructed view of the dial. The back of the watch features a round double-domed sapphire glass, also with an inner anti-reflective coating, allowing a glimpse of the intricate movement within. The use of sapphire glass ensures that the watch is scratch-resistant and durable, while the anti-reflective coating enhances readability in various lighting conditions. These thoughtful details highlight the brand's commitment to quality and functionality.

Even the packaging of the SEVENFRIDAY x ROCKETBYZ 3.0 is a work of art. Printed in white, the packaging is made from PA12, a material known for its durability, lightness, flexibility, and unique texture. The parametric design of the packaging is the result of maximizing strength while minimizing material, creating a visually striking and functional container. The packaging is printed in a single sequence, except for the cushion, which is made from maple wood. Each watch comes with a microfiber cloth and a pair of microfiber gloves, ensuring that owners can keep their timepiece in pristine condition.
