The
Porsche Design Chronograph 1 F.A.T. 2025 Edition is a timepiece that captures the spirit of motorsport and precision engineering. This isn't just another watch; it's a collaborative masterpiece born from the partnership between Porsche Design and the renowned motorsport community, F.A.T. International.
The story behind this watch is deeply intertwined with the legacy of F.A.T. International. Back in 1994, F.A.T., then a logistics company, achieved a remarkable victory at the grueling 24 Hours of Le Mans race. Their weapon of choice? A self-modified Porsche 962, a legendary race car that conquered the track with unmatched finesse. Fast forward to 2019, and Ferdi Porsche, inspired by this historic win, decided to revive the F.A.T. brand, transforming it into an international motorsport community with a mission to democratize racing. This limited edition piece has a closed case back with an engraved silhouette of the 962, the "F.A.T. 2025" logo, and Porsche Design lettering, as well as the unique limited edition number. This watch's design is inspired by the legendary Porsche 962, the Le Mans winning car of 1994. There is also a hidden design highlight visible only in the dark on the dial, including the silhouette of the 962 at the 12-hour counter and the car’s name at 6 o'clock.

Now, Ferdi Porsche brings the spirit of F.A.T. to his other passion: watches. Partnering with Porsche Design, he introduces the Chronograph 1 – F.A.T. 2025 Edition, a watch designed to meet the exacting standards of the F.A.T. community and motorsport enthusiasts worldwide. It pays homage to the 1994 Le Mans-winning car, blending history with cutting-edge technology. The design philosophy behind the Chronograph 1 – F.A.T. 2025 Edition is rooted in functionality and performance. This is immediately evident in its robust yet lightweight construction. It has a threaded crown and a closed base, threaded case back with watertightness up to 10 bar. The case, crafted from ultra-light and durable titanium, is coated with 100% scratch-resistant titanium carbide, ensuring resilience against the rigors of daily wear and motorsport activities. The case has a black titanium carbide coating with a glass bead blasted finish and is made of titanium. This is the first Chronograph 1 with a white, fully luminescent dial. The dial has a tachymeter scale. The finish is achieved through a glass bead blasting process, resulting in a matte-black appearance that not only looks sleek but also minimizes glare, a crucial feature for racing drivers who need optimal visibility at all times.
One of the standout features of this watch is its fully luminescent dial, coated entirely with Super-LumiNova. This isn't just a gimmick; it's a practical solution for endurance racing, where visibility during both day and night is paramount. The high-contrast, matte-black indices and hands stand out sharply against the luminous background, ensuring maximum readability in any lighting condition. At night, the dial glows brightly, allowing for quick and easy time checks without the need for external light sources. The glass is made of sapphire with a seven-fold anti-reflex on both sides. It is scratch-resistant and has a hard coating. The watch has an interchangeable strap system. One of the straps is a black titanium strap.

The dial itself is a marvel of design, featuring a dual-language date window (German and English) with a unique twist. Instead of the standard "S.A.T." and "S.U.N." abbreviations for Saturday and Sunday, the watch displays "F.A.T." in the signature red color of the F.A.T. community. This subtle yet distinctive detail is a nod to the watch's racing heritage and adds a touch of exclusivity. In the dark, hidden design elements come to life. The silhouette of the iconic Porsche 962 appears on the 12-hour counter, while the car's name is subtly integrated at the 6 o'clock position. These details are a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail that Porsche Design is known for. They are invisible in daylight but add an element of surprise and delight when the lights go out.
Powering this exceptional timepiece is the COSC-certified Porsche Design caliber WERK 01.240, a self-winding mechanical movement with a flyback function. This allows for instantaneous resetting and restarting of the chronograph, a feature highly valued in motorsport, where split-second timing can make all the difference. The movement is energy-optimized, featuring an automatic winding rotor that ensures a power reserve of 48 hours. With 25 jewels and vibrating at a frequency of 28,800 per hour (4 Hz), the WERK 01.240 is a testament to precision and reliability. It has a diameter of 30.00 mm and a height of 7.90 mm. The flyback function is particularly noteworthy. Unlike a standard chronograph, which requires the user to stop, reset, and then restart the timer, a flyback chronograph can be reset and restarted with a single push of a button. This is incredibly useful in racing, where timing laps and intervals needs to be done quickly and accurately.

The Chronograph 1 – F.A.T. 2025 Edition comes with three interchangeable straps, each designed to suit different occasions and preferences. The black titanium bracelet offers a sleek and sophisticated look, perfect for everyday wear. The white Ice Race textile strap is designed for high-performance activities, providing a secure and comfortable fit during intense physical exertion. The third option is a textile/leather strap in Mankei Purple, adding a pop of color and a touch of luxury. This quick-change system allows wearers to effortlessly switch between straps, adapting the watch to their needs and style without the need for special tools. This is a feature that will undoubtedly be appreciated by those who value both form and function.
Each of the 136 watches in this limited edition is individually numbered, adding to its exclusivity and collectibility. Porsche Design's commitment to quality extends beyond the watch itself. The brand offers detailed care instructions to ensure the longevity of the timepiece. Regular cleaning with a soft cloth and lukewarm soapy water is recommended, and after exposure to saltwater, the watch should be rinsed with fresh water and allowed to dry completely. Owners are advised to avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures, humidity fluctuations, direct sunlight, and strong magnetic fields. For watches with leather straps, Porsche Design uses high-quality natural leather and recommends avoiding exposure to water, moisture, skin cream, cosmetics, or prolonged sunlight to maintain their appearance and durability.
To maintain the watch's water resistance, regular inspections are recommended, particularly after any significant impact or shock. Given that oils and greases are subject to aging, Porsche Design suggests a comprehensive cleaning and inspection of the movement every four years to ensure optimal performance. This proactive approach to maintenance underscores the brand's dedication to providing a timepiece that can withstand the test of time.
