Swatch collaboration continues to surprise and delight watch enthusiasts with its latest offering: the Bioceramic MoonSwatch Mission to the Pink Moonphase. This timepiece, inspired by April's Pink Moon, is a vibrant and detailed chronograph that blends playful design with functional features. It is a unique creation and will be available for a limited time, making it a coveted piece for collectors and fans of the MoonSwatch series.
This new MoonSwatch is a celebration of the annual Pink Moon, a celestial event that occurs in April. The Pink Moon, this year, also happens to be a micromoon, meaning it appears slightly smaller and dimmer in the sky. This contrasts with the larger, brighter supermoons, such as the one celebrated by the Mission to the Super Blue Moonphase. Despite its inspiration being a "micro" moon, the Mission to the Pink Moonphase watch is anything but, shining brightly with intricate details and a striking color palette. The name comes from a collection of pink wildflowers that bloom around the time of the pink moon.

The case of the Mission to the Pink Moonphase is crafted from Swatch's patented Bioceramic material. Bioceramic is a unique blend of two-thirds ceramic and one-third biosourced material derived from castor oil. The case, along with the crown and pushers, are rendered in a soft pink hue, in line with the Pink Moon theme. The case has a diameter of 42.00 mm, a thickness of 13.75 mm, and a lug-to-lug distance of 47.30 mm, adhering to the familiar proportions of the MoonSwatch collection, which itself is based on the iconic Omega Speedmaster.
The dial of this timepiece presents a captivating combination of black and silver-pink opaline. This creates a stunning backdrop for the various features and details. The hour markers and the black hands are coated with Grade A Super-LumiNova, which emits a vivid pink glow in low-light conditions. This pink luminescence is a unique touch, reinforcing the watch's theme and enhancing its readability. The iconic logos are still displayed across the top of the dial, with the Omega x Swatch, Speedmaster, and MoonSwatch.

One of the standout features of this watch is its moon phase function, located in the subdial at 2 o'clock. Two pink moons are set against a black moon phase disc. These moons rotate within the subdial, tracking the lunar cycle. Under UV light, a hidden detail on the moon phase mask is revealed, adding an element of surprise and delight. These moons also exhibit a pink glow, thanks to their Super-LumiNova coating, visible in the dark, continuing the pink emission theme.
The bezel of the Mission to the Pink Moonphase is crafted from black Bioceramic, providing a sharp contrast to the pink case. It features a pulsometer scale with white opaline markers. The pulsometer is a practical feature, typically found on sports chronographs. It allows the wearer to measure their heart rate. To use it, the wearer starts the chronograph and stops it after counting 30 heartbeats. The pulsometer scale then indicates the heart rate in beats per minute. Adding a playful touch, the top push button, located at the 2 o'clock position, features a small embossed heart, a subtle reference to the pulsometer function.

The Mission to the Pink Moonphase is powered by a quartz movement, ensuring accuracy and reliability. The watch is water-resistant to 3 bar, making it suitable for everyday wear, although it is not designed for diving or high-impact water sports. The quartz movement drives the chronograph function, along with the signature moon phase indicator.
The construction of the watch exhibits several details that are consistent across the MoonSwatch collection. The box-shaped glass is made from biosourced material and features an etched "S" in the center, a nod to the Swatch logo. The dial displays a refined circular pattern on its outer ring, along with recessed subdials. The lugs have a sharp and smooth construction, and the overall feel of the Bioceramic material is distinctive and pleasant to the touch.

The strap of the watch is a pink Velcro strap, designed for comfort and ease of use. It features contrasting white stitching and an attachment loop made from pink Bioceramic, matching the case material. The Velcro strap is a practical choice, especially for a watch inspired by space missions, where ease of adjustment over a spacesuit would be necessary.
The attention to detail extends to the battery cover, which showcases a moon rendered in a stunning array of pink shades. This is another subtle, yet impactful, detail that adds to the watch's unique appeal and ties it back to its celestial inspiration. The caseback features the mission statement, celebrating the Pink Moon and its unique micromoon status.

The Omega and Swatch branding is prominent, with the logos displayed on both the dial and the crown. This collaboration merges the heritage and prestige of Omega with the innovative and playful spirit of Swatch, resulting in a timepiece that is both a collector's item and a fun, wearable accessory. The fusion of Omega's Speedmaster design DNA with Swatch's Bioceramic material and bold color choices has made the MoonSwatch series a global phenomenon, and this new release is sure to continue that trend.
The Mission to the Pink Moonphase is designed to be accessible, but also exclusive, with a retail price of $310.00.
