The
Girard-Perregaux Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition is a collaborative timepiece between the Swiss watchmaker and the British luxury car manufacturer. This watch is a physical representation of both brands' dedication to performance, design, and detailed craftsmanship.
Girard-Perregaux, founded in 1791, has a long and storied history of creating exceptional timepieces. The brand is known for its in-house movements and iconic designs, like the Tourbillon with Three Gold Bridges. Based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Girard-Perregaux maintains its status as an independent Manufacture, a rarity in today's watch industry. This independence allows for complete creative control and a focus on preserving traditional watchmaking skills. Their consistent innovations and focus on a perfect union of design and mechanics have made it a very loved brand amongst collectors.

Aston Martin, established in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford, is known for creating luxury sports cars. The brand represents style, performance, and exclusivity. Models like the Vantage, DB12, and the Valkyrie hypercar highlight Aston Martin's dedication to blending technology, craftsmanship, and design. Aston Martin, like Girard-Perregaux, is focused on engineering and innovation. The brands are well known for performance and forward thinking.
The partnership between Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin brings together two brands with a shared ethos. The Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition is the result of this, designed to capture the essence of both companies. While neither company is directly involved in the others success, they still share a bond on this unique timepiece, the dial is actually inspired by the colours of British sports cars. This collaboration emphasizes the importance of design and creating products that have a purpose. The two companies will also have their names etched somewhere onto the timepiece.

The Laureato collection, first introduced in 1975, is a cornerstone of Girard-Perregaux's lineup. It was one of the first luxury sports watches with an integrated bracelet, designed entirely in-house by Girard-Perregaux. A defining feature of the Laureato is its octagonal bezel, a design element that has become synonymous with the collection. Over the years, the Laureato has seen various iterations, incorporating different materials, dial colors, and complications, but it has always maintained its distinctive aesthetic and in-house movement. The collection represents Girard-Perregaux's ability to evolve while staying true to its heritage.
The Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition is presented in a 42mm case made of Grade 5 titanium. This material was chosen for its exceptional qualities: it's lightweight, strong, corrosion-resistant, non-magnetic, and hypoallergenic. These properties make it ideal for a sports watch, ensuring comfort and durability. The case features a combination of polished and satin-finished surfaces, a hallmark of the Laureato collection. The circular bezel, case facets, chronograph pushers, and central bracelet links are polished, creating a contrast with the brushed surfaces. The case is 12.16mm thick and water-resistant to 100 meters.

The dial of the Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition is a striking iridescent green. This unique color is achieved through a complex process involving the application of 15 ultra-thin layers of automotive paint, with 14 total steps including 2 cooking cycles. The paint is specially formulated with a filtration method to remove any residual grains, ensuring a flawless finish. The green hue is inspired by the colors of British sports cars, reflecting Aston Martin's heritage. The dial is multifaceted. When viewing the watch from different angles, the dial shifts colors from a green to an orange.
The dial features skeletonized hands, designed to resemble the front grille of Aston Martin cars. The indexes and counters have a grey-toned PVD treatment, matching the titanium case. The hour and minute hands, along with the faceted applied batons, are filled with white luminescent material that glows green in low light. Three sub-dials (a 30-minute chronograph register, a 12-hour chronograph register, and a small seconds display) are neatly arranged on the dial. A date window is positioned between 4 and 5 o'clock. The Girard-Perregaux name and logo are displayed in white text near the top of the dial.
The watch is powered by the Calibre GP03300, a self-winding chronograph movement manufactured in-house by Girard-Perregaux. This movement is visible through a sapphire crystal caseback, which features a metalized Aston Martin logo. The GP03300 has a diameter of 25.95mm (11 ''') and a height of 6.50mm. It operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and comprises 419 parts, including 63 jewels. The movement is meticulously finished, featuring Côtes de Genève, chamfering, straight graining, and an oscillating weight made of heavy metal, that spins clockwise to wind. The power reserve is a minimum of 46 hours.

The Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition comes with an integrated bracelet made of titanium, matching the case material. The bracelet features the same polished and satin-finished surfaces as the case, creating a cohesive look. It is secured with a titanium triple-folding buckle. The integrated design of the bracelet is a key feature of the Laureato collection, contributing to the watch's streamlined appearance and on-wrist comfort. The bracelet is easy to handle and use.
The movement's layout and design are carefully considered to fit the Laureato case. The finishing includes straight Côtes de Genève on the bridges, bevelling, mirror-polished screws, circular graining on the main plate, and engraved gilded text. These details reflect Girard-Perregaux's commitment to quality and craftsmanship. The Calibre GP03300 is a very high precision instrument of timekeeping.
The functions of the watch include hours, minutes, small seconds, chronograph, and date. The chronograph pushers are designed for smooth activation, reflecting the attention to detail in the movement's construction. The GP03300 has become a very popular movement to use in many timepieces. Its design is very special and important to the Laureato line.
