  • Diving headfirst into the world of Boldr watches, a brand that has carved its niche with a spirit of adventure and a commitment to durability. Born from a challenging yet inspiring origin story, BOLDR has emerged as a symbol of resilience and innovation in the watchmaking industry.

In 2015, founder Leon embarked on a journey that would redefine his career and the watchmaking landscape. What began as a Kickstarter campaign for an outdoor-friendly ‘clever watch’ named the BOLDR Voyage quickly turned into a trial by fire. Despite a successful launch, the project faced insurmountable manufacturing and licensing challenges. In a move that would define BOLDR’s ethos, Leon chose integrity over profit, refunding every backer and preserving the trust of the budding BOLDR community. This act of transparency and courage laid the foundation for the brand’s future, leading to the creation of the BOLDR Journey, the brand's first official watch collection, aptly named to honor the arduous journey that birthed the company.

BOLDR’s vision is clear: to create rugged, adventure-fueled timepieces that inspire action, uplift communities, and honor diverse, inspirational individuals. With a steadfast commitment to sustainability, aiming for 80% in materials and packaging, BOLDR is not just making watches, they're crafting a legacy. Each piece is a blend of modern and classic design elements, incorporating horological technologies with tough, quality materials chosen for their durability and resilience. This isn't just about creating another watch; it's about creating companions for life’s adventures, designed to endure and tell a story.

The new BOLDR Odyssey Horizon is a testament to this philosophy. It’s a watch that captures the essence of a tranquil ocean, a color for those who seek adventure with a touch of sophistication. This watch is for the individual who appreciates the calm before the storm, the quiet confidence of knowing they’re prepared for anything. The Odyssey Horizon, with its serene blue hue, embodies the spirit of refined adventure.

The Odyssey Horizon is a formidable timepiece, boasting a 40mm titanium+ case, enhanced with a 1200HV coating and a vertical brushed finish. This choice of material not only ensures the watch's durability but also contributes to its lightweight feel, making it comfortable for everyday wear yet robust enough for the most demanding adventures. The watch is rated for 300 meters of water resistance, a testament to its readiness for aquatic exploration or simply braving a downpour with unshakeable confidence.

At the heart of the Odyssey Horizon beats the Japan-made Miyota Cal. 9075 automatic movement, operating at 28800bph and offering a power reserve of 42 hours. This movement is renowned for its reliability and precision, a fitting choice for a watch designed to accompany its wearer through thick and thin. The inclusion of a Flyer GMT complication, allowing for the independent adjustment of the local hour hand, makes this watch a perfect companion for the global traveler, always keeping time with the precision that life’s journeys demand.

The dial of the Odyssey Horizon is a study in understated elegance. An ombre translucent dial is complemented by custom brushed-finished hands, each coated with Swiss Superluminova for optimal visibility in low-light conditions. The dial design reflects the watch’s aquatic inspiration, reminiscent of looking into the depths of the ocean, with a clarity that belies the complexity of the engineering beneath.

Surrounding the dial is a 120-click unidirectional Titanium+ bezel, also featuring Swiss Superluminova on the filled lume pip. This feature is not just practical for divers; it’s a nod to the watch’s adventurous spirit, a beacon in the dark that guides the way forward. The double-dome sapphire crystal, treated with an anti-reflective coating, ensures that the dial remains readable under harsh sunlight, protecting it from scratches and impacts.

The Odyssey Horizon is offered with two strap options: an integrated titanium bracelet with a quick-adjust buckle and screw-in links, and an integrated Druber strap with a keeper stopper. The titanium bracelet is designed for those who demand both style and substance, offering a seamless blend of form and function. The quick-adjust buckle is a particularly thoughtful touch, allowing for easy adjustments on the go. The Druber strap, made from vulcanized rubber, is ideal for water-based activities, providing comfort and durability where it’s needed most.

With the titanium bracelet, the watch weighs in at 125 grams, while the Druber strap reduces the weight to 91 grams. This versatility ensures that the Odyssey Horizon can be tailored to the wearer’s preference, whether they prioritize the heft and presence of a metal bracelet or the lightweight comfort of a rubber strap. The case thickness is a modest 12.5mm without the glass and 13mm with it, maintaining a sleek profile that slips easily under a cuff but still makes a statement on the wrist.

The case back of the Odyssey Horizon is a sapphire exhibition screw-down design, featuring custom artwork printing on a single-piece design. This transparent back offers a glimpse into the intricate workings of the Miyota movement, a feature that will delight watch enthusiasts who appreciate the mechanical artistry within. Each watch is individually numbered, adding an element of exclusivity and collectibility.

The Odyssey Horizon is available for pre-order at a special price of $699, with an MSRP of $799. Shipping is set to begin on the 3rd of February, making this watch an accessible piece of horological craftsmanship for those eager to add a versatile and stylish timepiece to their collection.
