Quick TakeThe Sinn 857 is the ultimate wingman, ready for any mission you throw its way. With a bead-blasted, TEGIMENT-hardened case, that will shrug off bumps and scrapes. It is not just tough; it is clever, too. Ar-Dehumidifying Technology keeps things crystal clear, while serious magnetic field protection ensures accurate timekeeping, no matter what electronic interference you encounter. The captive pilot's bezel clicks with satisfying precision, tracking elapsed time for those critical maneuvers and the glow-in-the-dark hands and markers means that this is a watch that is never off duty. The integrated strap, with a robust TEGIMENT clasp, is ready for the adventure.
DescriptionThe Sinn 857, reference 857.012, is engineered as a professional-grade instrument timepiece. Its construction begins with a 43mm diameter case, crafted from bead-blasted stainless steel, achieving a subdued, non-reflective finish. The case thickness measures 12mm, and the lug width accommodates a 22mm strap. Sinn's proprietary TEGIMENT technology is applied to the stainless steel case, substantially increasing its surface hardness and providing superior scratch resistance. The case back is screw-fastened and manufactured without nickel, catering to individuals with sensitivities. It should be observed that the caseback doesn't include TEGIMENT technology. The total weight, excluding the strap, is 90 grams. Critical to its functionality, the watch incorporates a captive pilot's bezel. This bi-directional bezel, also constructed from stainless steel and treated with TEGIMENT technology, features a minute ratcheting mechanism. The bezel's markings are displayed on an inset, black anodized aluminum ring, with numerals and indices in a contrasting silver for optimal visibility. A luminous triangle serves as the zero/60-minute marker.
Protecting the dial is a sapphire crystal, treated with an anti-reflective coating on both the interior and exterior surfaces. This design element maximizes legibility under diverse lighting conditions. The dial itself is matte black, with indices and numerals coated in a luminescent material. The hour and minute hands also receive a luminescent coating, ensuring readability in low-light environments. Internally, the watch features Sinn's Ar-Dehumidifying Technology, designed to minimize moisture ingress and prevent fogging of the crystal. Magnetic Field Protection is incorporated, shielding the movement up to 100mT (equivalent to 80,000 A/m). The watch meets DIN 8309 standards for anti-magnetism. The watch uses an SW300-1 self-winding movement with 25 bearing jewels and a frequency of 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour (4 Hz). It includes a seconds stop function, providing precision time-setting abilities. The watch indicates hours, minutes, seconds and shows a date. The watch achieves a water and pressure resistance rating of 20 bar, confirmed by compliance with DIN 8310 standards. It's also tested and verified as low-pressure resistant.
