Its core functionality centers around the SW500 self-winding mechanical movement. This movement features a 25-jewel bearing system, ensuring smooth operation and a reduced need for maintenance over time. The balance wheel oscillates at a standard frequency of 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour, contributing to the watch's timekeeping precision. A seconds stop function, also known as hacking, is incorporated into the movement. The movement is also anti-magnetic in line with the DIN 8309 standard. It is, however, critical to consider that movement specifics may vary slightly because of ongoing development at Sinn's production facility in Frankfurt.

The 358.065's external construction emphasizes robustness and legibility. Its 42mm diameter case is manufactured from satinized stainless steel, contributing to a non-reflective, tool-watch aesthetic.
