Quick TakeThe Sinn U50 HYDRO SDR TEGIMENT isn't just a watch; it is an instrument of underwater domination. A marvel of practical technology, this is far from an ordinary diver. Forget about foggy crystals or unreadable angles – the HYDRO tech fills this beast with oil, granting unmatched clarity at any depth, all the way to the crushing pressure of 5,000 meters. Feel the unyielding strength of German Submarine Steel, hardened with TEGIMENT, ready for every and all harsh, salty environments. The quartz movement, a practical necessity, ensures reliable time, so there is no need to fear the ticking to stop while you go down to the abyss. And let us take another moment to appreciate the black, hardened divers bezel; no more flaking of colours or failed dives because of it. Its 41mm case sits perfectly, a balanced blend of presence and wearability. More than a mere timepiece, it is an extension of the intrepid diver, a faithful companion in the dark depths. A testament to engineering not just for show, but for unwavering performance.
Description
The Sinn 1051.050, designated as the U50 HYDRO SDR with TEGIMENT option, represents a specialized timepiece engineered for extreme underwater conditions. The core of its underwater capabilities stem from its implementation of Sinn's proprietary HYDRO Technology. This involves filling the watch case with a specialized oil. The oil filling achieves three critical performance enhancements. First, it renders the watch completely free from internal fogging, a common issue with traditional air-filled watches subjected to temperature fluctuations. Second, the refractive index of the oil closely matches that of the sapphire crystal, which provides freedom from reflection under water. The underwater readability, is, therefore, perfect from all viewing angles. Third, the incompressible nature of the fluid provides enhanced resistance against external pressure. This watch, per DNV certification, is resistant to a 5,000-meter diving depth, representing a pressure of 500 bar. This is further confirmed during tests based on European diving equipment standards EN 250 and EN14143.
Powering this robust timepiece is the Swiss-made Ronda 715 Li quartz movement. This choice is necessary because of the oil filled case. The movement, containing 5 bearing jewels, is characterized by an exceptionally long-lasting lithium battery, minimizing the need for frequent replacements. A built-in End-of-Life (EOL) indicator provides a visual warning when the battery nears depletion, preventing unexpected stoppage. The movement is also anti-magnetic, in accordance with DIN 8309. The encasing of the movement is meticulously designed. The 41mm diameter case, along with the screw-down crown located at the 4 o’clock position, is constructed from high-strength, bead-blasted German Submarine Steel. This material provides resistance to the corrosive effects of seawater and also maintains non-magnetic characteristics. The solid bracelet also consists of hardened steel with TEGIMENT Technology. The case back is screw-fastened. The captive diver's bezel, crucial for timing dives, features minute ratcheting, and uses Sinn's TEGIMENT Technology, combined with a Black Hard Coating, to make sure no coating flakes. The watch maintains functional reliability across a wide temperature spectrum, from -20°C to +60°C. The watch adheres to water-resistance requirements, laid out on DIN 8310 standards and diving norm DIN 8306. The dial is a matte black, with indices and hands generously coated with luminescent material for clear low-light visibility. The sapphire crystal is anti-reflective on both sides. The total weight of just the case and internal components, excluding any strap or bracelet, is documented at 72 grams. The lug width is 20mm. The overall case thickness is 11.8 mm. GenderMen
