Quick TakeThe Sinn U2 SDR is the horological equivalent of a deep-sea submersible. Forged from German Submarine Steel, it laughs in the face of crushing pressures and corrosive saltwater, boasting a 2000-meter depth rating. It's not just about surviving, the U2 SDR is about absolute precision. The Ar-Dehumidifying Technology ensures crystal-clear visibility, no matter the temperature swings, mirroring the unwavering focus a professional diver needs. The watch is a steadfast presence that will not waver. The GMT function adds a layer of global awareness, while the TEGIMENT-hardened bezel stands guard against the inevitable scrapes of an active life. This isn't just a watch; it's a testament to German engineering, a rugged instrument built for those who demand unwavering reliability, down to the precise beat of its SW 330-1 movement. The clear mission timer design provides optimal readability under pressure.
DescriptionThe Sinn U2 SDR EZM 5, reference 1020.040, is constructed entirely from high-strength, bead-blasted German Submarine Steel. This specialized material provides exceptional seawater resistance and possesses superior anti-magnetic qualities, exceeding the requirements of DIN 8309. The watch's pressure resistance is certified by DNV to a diving depth of 2,000 meters (200 bar), meeting both DIN 8310 water-resistance standards and the diving norm DIN 8306. It is further tested and certified to European diving equipment standards EN 250 and EN14143, confirming its suitability for professional diving applications. A screw-fastened case back and screwable crown contribute to its robust water resistance and it is also low pressure resistant.

The movement powering the U2 SDR is the SW 330-1, a self-winding mechanism with 25 bearing jewels. It operates at a frequency of 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour and includes a seconds stop function for precise time setting. The watch incorporates Sinn's proprietary Temperature Resistance Technology, guaranteeing functional reliability across a temperature range of -45°C to +80°C. Ar-Dehumidifying Technology, incorporating EDR seals with significantly reduced gas permeability, three drying capsules, and a protective gas fill, enhances functional reliability by preventing internal fogging. The 4.2mm thick, slightly domed sapphire crystal is anti-reflective on both sides. A captive diver's bezel, featuring minute ratcheting and a luminous key mark, is hardened using TEGIMENT Technology and finished with a Black Hard Coating. The matte black dial displays hours, minutes, seconds, a date display, and a second time zone via a 24-hour hand, all designed in a mission timer format for optimal readability. Indices, hour, minute, and second hands are coated with luminescent material. The case diameter measures 44 mm, with a band lug width of 22 mm and a case thickness of 15.5 mm. The weight of the watch head, excluding the strap, is 114 grams. The crown's placement at the 4 o'clock mitigates pressure points that would occur otherwise.
