The 42 mm Oyster case is crafted from 18 kt white gold and features a screw-down case back and crown, ensuring a water resistance of up to 100 meters (330 feet). The unidirectional rotatable bezel involves a matt black Cerachrom insert in ceramic with polished raised numerals and graduations. It is designed to aid sailors in calculating elapsed time during races.

The watch is powered by the Rolex caliber 3235, a self-winding mechanical movement that offers a power reserve of approximately 70 hours. This chronometer-certified movement is known for its precision and reliability. The Yacht-Master 42 also features a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with a Cyclops lens at the 3 o’clock position for magnified date viewing.
