The watch is crafted from Oystersteel, a high-performance stainless steel alloy that is extremely resistant to corrosion. The Oystersteel case is 44mm in diameter and features a monobloc middle case, screw-down case back, and screw-down winding crown. The case is also equipped with a Rolex Ringlock System, which includes a helium escape valve that allows helium gas to escape from the watch during decompression after a dive. The bezel of the Rolex Deepsea Ref. 136660 is a unidirectional rotatable 60-minute graduated Cerachrom bezel. The Cerachrom bezel insert is made from a virtually scratchproof and ultraviolet-resistant ceramic material. The numerals and graduations on the bezel are coated with a thin layer of platinum using a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) process.
