DescriptionThe beating heart of the Richard Mille RM 74-02 Automatic Winding Tourbillon is the remarkable CRMT5 calibre–an entirely in-house designed and crafted marvel. Its meticulous skeletonization reveals the captivating interplay of gears, bridges, and springs. The baseplate and bridges, meticulously crafted from 18K 5N red and 18K 3N yellow gold, are microblasted and hand-beveled. This meticulous finishing process ensures optimal structural integrity and enhances the aesthetic allure of the movement.

To combat the effects of shock and maintain precision timekeeping, the RM 74-02 incorporates a free-sprung balance wheel with variable inertia. Four small adjustable weights directly on the balance wheel allow for precise chronometric calibration, a process far surpassing the capabilities of traditional regulator indices. Another testament to the RM 74-02's pursuit of precision is the variable-geometry rotor. Its platinum segment and heavy 18K red gold outer rim can be configured using spline screws to tailor the winding efficiency to suit the wearer's activity level. This translates to optimal energy transfer and a healthy power reserve of approximately 50 hours.

The complexity extends to the case assembly: 20 spline screws of grade 5 titanium and abrasion-resistant stainless steel washers work cohesively with double Nitrile O-ring seals for an impressive water resistance of 50 meters.
