DescriptionThe Richard Mille RM 59-01 Tourbillon Yohan Blake is a limited edition timepiece (only 50 pieces were made) designed in collaboration with the famed sprinter Yohan Blake. The watch boasts a unique and technical design, while its features cater to the specific needs of athletes.

The most prominent aspect of the RM 59-01 is its case. Crafted from a translucent composite injected with carbon nanotubes, the case offers exceptional strength and lightness, making it ideal for active wear. The tonneau shape, a Richard Mille signature, is given a new interpretation here with a surprising thickness and tapering extension between 2 and 5 o'clock. This design detail ensures that the crown, which is equipped with a torque limitation system to prevent overwinding, never rubs uncomfortably against the wearer's wrist. The caseback is made from grade 5 titanium, a biocompatible material known for its high strength-to-weight ratio and resistance to corrosion.

The skeletonized manual winding tourbillon movement, visible through the transparent case, is the beating heart of the RM 59-01. This complex mechanism is comprised of numerous intricate parts, including bridges made from anticorodal aluminum, a material known for its lightness and resistance to corrosion. The bridges are then eloxed (anodic oxidation) and hand-painted in green and yellow, the colors of the Jamaican flag, a tribute to Yohan Blake's heritage. The movement's tourbillon carriage rotates on a vertical axis every 60 seconds, counteracting the effects of gravity on the watch's regulating organ, the balance wheel and hairspring, and thus enhancing its timekeeping precision. The RM 59-01 is equipped with a variable inertia balance, which allows for fine-tuning of the regulating system and ensures optimal performance. The movement also offers a power reserve of approximately 48 hours, meaning the watch will continue to run for nearly two days after being fully wound. The time is displayed on skeletonized hands with green and red tips, ensuring optimal legibility against the complex backdrop of the movement. A green rubber strap completes the watch's design, providing a comfortable and secure fit on the wrist.
