Precision is ensured by the Gyromax® balance, oscillating at a frequency of 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour (4 Hz), and regulated by a Breguet balance spring. Remarkably, the movement incorporates six patented innovations, underscoring Patek Philippe's commitment to pushing boundaries. One such innovation is the exceptionally thin perpetual calendar mechanism, a feat of engineering that allows this complex complication to be housed within the slender 12.4mm case.

The 5270J showcases multiple complications for sophisticated functionality. The perpetual calendar automatically tracks the date, day, month, and leap year cycles, effortlessly adjusting for the varying lengths of months and even accounting for leap years.
