DescriptionThe Patek Philippe Celestial Reference 6102P timepiece boasts a complex self-winding mechanical movement, the Caliber 240 LU CL C. This caliber drives a multitude of functions including the timekeeping of hours and minutes with skeletonized hands, a date display by hand, and astronomical complications. The astronomical complications consist of a celestial chart that rotates to depict the configuration of the northern hemisphere's night sky. The dial features three metalized sapphire crystal discs. One disc showcases the stars and the Milky Way, another depicts the moon's phases and orbit, and a third disc features an ellipse that frames the portion of the sky visible from Geneva, Switzerland. This allows the watch wearer to identify the stars and constellations visible in their night sky based on their location relative to Geneva. Additionally, the watch displays the time of meridian passage for Sirius, the brightest star visible from Earth, and the moon. The 6102P houses the Caliber 240 LU CL C movement within a 44 mm diameter platinum case. The case measures 10.58 mm in height and boasts a sapphire crystal case back that allows for viewing the movement. The watch is water-resistant to 30 meters and is secured to the wrist with a shiny navy blue alligator strap with square scales and a fold-over clasp.

The Caliber 240 LU CL C movement at the heart of the 6102P is a self-winding mechanical movement comprised of 315 parts. The movement features 12 bridges and 45 jewels. It beats at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour) and delivers a power reserve of 38 to 48 hours when fully wound. The self-winding functionality is achieved by a 22K gold off-center mini-rotor. The Caliber 240 LU CL C also incorporates Patek Philippe's Gyromax® balance and Spiromax® balance spring, both known for their enhanced performance and durability. The Gyromax® balance features a large diameter and a variable moment of inertia to improve its resistance to shocks and position changes. The Spiromax® balance spring is constructed from silicon, which is anti-magnetic and less susceptible to temperature variations than traditional balance springs.
