The watch features a self-winding mechanical movement, the Caliber 240 HU, which is renowned for its accuracy and reliability. The movement boasts 239 components, 8 bridges, and 33 jewels. It incorporates a 22K gold off-center mini-rotor that winds the mainspring automatically as the wearer moves their wrist. The Caliber 240 HU delivers a minimum 48 hours power reserve when fully wound, ensuring the watch continues to operate even if not worn for a day or two. The movement beats at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz), contributing to smooth and precise timekeeping. The Patek Philippe Gyromax® balance and Spiromax® balance spring further enhance the movement’s precision and resilience to shocks and temperature variations.

The timekeeping functionality of the Ref. 7130G is complemented by its world time complication. This complication allows the wearer to simultaneously view the time in all 24 major world time zones. The watch features a two-part dial. The center disc displays the time in the wearer’s local time zone with slender gold hour markers and dauphine hands. A surrounding city ring rotates independently and features the names of 24 major cities, each representing a different time zone. A small, rotating arrow at the center of the dial points to the city representing the wearer’s selected local time zone. The city ring is crafted from a composite material for light weight and dimensional stability. To use the world time function, the wearer simply aligns the desired reference city on the city ring with the time hand. The time in all other zones can then be read by referencing the corresponding city names and the 24-hour scale printed along the periphery of the dial. The day/night indication for each time zone is displayed via small apertures positioned near the outer edge of the dial next to the corresponding city names. These apertures reveal color-coded discs, half white for daytime and half black for nighttime, providing an at-a-glance indication of daytime or nighttime in each specified time zone.
