Its heart is the P.4100 calibre, an automatic mechanical movement entirely developed and manufactured in-house by Panerai. This movement, measuring 15 ½ lignes (35.1 mm) in diameter and 7.0 mm in thickness, operates at a frequency of 28,800 alternations per hour (4 Hz), ensuring accurate timekeeping. The movement comprises 55 jewels and features a Glucydur® balance for optimal stability and a KIF® Parechoc® anti-shock device to protect against impacts.

Driving the perpetual calendar and other complications, the P.4100 calibre boasts a substantial 3-day power reserve stored in two barrels. A meticulous design element is the seconds reset mechanism, allowing for precise synchronization with a reference time signal. The perpetual calendar is a marvel of horological engineering, automatically adjusting for varying month lengths and leap years, ensuring accurate date display until the year 2100. The watch also features a GMT function, enabling the display of a second time zone, along with a day/night indicator and a convenient power reserve indicator.

The PAM00742's 44mm case is fashioned from Panerai's proprietary Goldtech™, an innovative alloy with a higher copper content and a touch of platinum, lending it a rich, warm hue. The brushed finish on the case contrasts beautifully with the polished Goldtech™ bezel. A sapphire crystal case back provides a glimpse into the intricate workings of the P.4100 calibre.
