DescriptionThe Omega Speedmaster 38 Co-Axial Chronometer Moonphase reference 324.58.38.50.60.001 is a wristwatch designed for both everyday wear and dressier occasions. The timepiece features a complex blend of materials and functions encased in a relatively compact 38-millimeter diameter 18K Moonshine™ gold case. The Moonshine™ gold, a proprietary Omega alloy, is said to be more resistant to fading and tarnish than traditional yellow gold. The polished gold case is further adorned with a diamond-set bezel containing 52 lab-grown diamonds. The watch’s scratch-resistant sapphire crystal is treated with an anti-reflective coating on both sides for improved readability in various lighting conditions. The timepiece boasts a water resistance of 10 bar, which is suitable for swimming and showering, but not for deep diving.

The watch dial is made of green polyvinyl chloride (PVC) with a textured, sun-brushed finish. It features a central chronograph function with horizontally oriented oval subdials for the 30-minute and 60-second counters. A vertical oval subdial at the 6 o’clock position displays the date. The hour and minute hands are crafted from 18K Moonshine™ gold and are diamond-polished and rhodium-plated for a shiny and tarnish-resistant finish. Both hands are filled with white Super-LumiNova, a luminescent material that emits a green glow in low-light conditions. A chronograph seconds hand is located at the center of the dial.

The Omega Speedmaster 38 Co-Axial Chronometer Moonphase is powered by the Omega Co-Axial Calibre 3330, a self-winding mechanical movement with a 52-hour power reserve. The Co-Axial escapement, a cornerstone of Omega’s modern movement technology, is designed to reduce friction and wear and tear on the movement’s parts, potentially extending the watch’s lifespan. The caliber 3330 is also resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss. The watch’s caseback is stamped with a Seahorse medallion, a symbol used by Omega on its water-resistant timepieces. The timepiece is completed by a green alligator leather strap with a polished 18K Moonshine™ gold fold-over clasp buckle. The alligator strap has a luxurious, textured exterior surface with a contrasting, grained underbelly surface.
