Description
The Omega Globemaster Annual Calendar (reference 130.23.41.22.11.001) is a wristwatch with a complex and feature-rich design. The timekeeping element of the watch is housed within a 41 mm diameter case. This case is constructed from a combination of stainless steel and 18K Sedna gold, a rose gold alloy developed by Omega. The stainless steel provides the core structure of the case, while the 18K Sedna gold is used for the bezel, which features a polished finish. The caseback is made from stainless steel and features a sapphire crystal window that reveals the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8922 movement inside. The sapphire crystal is domed and has an anti-reflective treatment applied to both sides. This treatment minimizes the amount of light reflecting off the surface of the crystal, making the dial easier to read in all lighting conditions.
The dial of the Omega Globemaster Annual Calendar is a burgundy color and features a sun-brushed finish. This finish gives the dial a subtle striped appearance that catches the light and adds visual interest. The hour markers and hands are made from 18K Sedna gold and are faceted, which means that they have multiple flat surfaces that reflect light. The hour markers are also filled with Super-LumiNova, a luminescent material that emits light after being charged by exposure to light. This allows the time to be read in low-light conditions. The dial also features an annual calendar complication. An annual calendar is a type of calendar complication that automatically displays the date, month, and day of the week. Unlike a perpetual calendar, an annual calendar only needs to be adjusted once a year, on the first day of March. The date on the Omega Globemaster Annual Calendar is displayed through a small window at the 6 o'clock position on the dial. The month is displayed around the periphery of the dial, with each month abbreviated to three letters and printed on a facet of the dial. The Omega Globemaster Annual Calendar is powered by the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8922. This is a self-winding movement, which means that it is powered by the wearer's movements. The Co-Axial escapement is a key component of the movement. This design reduces friction between certain parts of the movement, which improves accuracy and reduces wear and tear. The movement has also been chronometer-certified by COSC, a Swiss institute that tests the accuracy of mechanical watches. To earn chronometer certification, a movement must meet a number of criteria, including accuracy, precision, and resistance to magnetic fields. The Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8922 is resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss. This level of magnetic resistance ensures that the watch will continue to keep accurate time even when exposed to strong magnetic fields, such as those found in MRI machines or airport security scanners.
The Omega Globemaster Annual Calendar is water-resistant to 10 bar (100 meters). This means that the watch can withstand being submerged in water up to 100 meters deep. However, it is important to note that this water resistance rating is not permanent and can degrade over time. The watch should also not be worn while water skiing or scuba diving, as these activities can exert a lot of pressure on the watch case. The Omega Globemaster Annual Calendar is a complex and feature-rich watch that is designed for the discerning watch enthusiast. The combination of a stainless steel and 18K Sedna gold case, a burgundy sun-brushed dial, an annual calendar complication, and the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8922 movement make this watch a powerful statement piece.
