The case design is a modern reinterpretation of the iconic 62GS model, first released in 1967, which was Grand Seiko's inaugural automatic movement timepiece. The 62GS was recognized for its mirrored, multi-sided case, wide dial aperture, bezel-free architecture, and signature Zaratsu polishing. The SBGH271 case features a see-through, screw case back and a box-shaped sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface. The watch's total weight is 153 grams.
