Central to its design is the Caliber 9S63, a movement that marks a return to manual winding for Grand Seiko after an eight-year interval. This caliber is engineered to provide a power reserve of approximately 72 hours, effectively three days, while maintaining an accuracy rate that falls between +5 to -3 seconds per day. This stated accuracy is derived from rigorous testing; the mean daily rate is calculated from measurements of the unassembled movement, tested in six different positions over a 12-day period under controlled environmental conditions. The movement's construction incorporates 33 jewels, contributing to its efficiency and longevity.

The physical construction of the SBGK007 showcases meticulous craftsmanship. Its stainless steel exterior offers durability, with a case diameter of 39.0mm, a lug-to-lug measurement of 44.0mm, and a thickness of 11.6mm. The slim profile results from careful design.
