The watch's exterior, constructed from stainless steel, exhibits a diameter of 40.2mm, a lug-to-lug measurement of 48.5mm, and a thickness of 12.8mm, contributing to an overall weight of 144 grams. The case incorporates a see-through, screw-down case back (secured with six screws), offering a view of the intricate movement within. A box-shaped sapphire crystal, treated with an anti-reflective coating on its inner surface, protects the dial. The band width measures 19mm, culminating in a secure three-fold clasp that operates via a push-button release.

Internally, the SBGA499 is powered by the Caliber 9R65 Spring Drive movement, a mechanism renowned for its unique blend of mechanical and quartz technologies.
