DescriptionThe Grand Seiko SBGW287, part of the Elegance Collection, is characterized by its manually wound Caliber 9S64 movement. This movement, visible through the see-through, six-screw case back, is assembled and adjusted by hand. The 9S64 offers an impressive power reserve of approximately 72 hours, stemming from a long mainspring crafted from Grand Seiko's proprietary SPRON alloy. A balance, also made from SPRON, contributes to the movement's stable and elevated accuracy. The mean daily rate is specified as +5 to -3 seconds per day. This value represents the average daily rate obtained when the movement, prior to casing, is tested in six different positions under controlled conditions over a 12-day period. When the watch cased and subject to regular use, the accuracy range is +10 to -1 seconds per day. The movement features 24 jewels, reducing friction between moving components and boosting the longevity, and improving timekeeping.

The external case is constructed from stainless steel, measuring 37.3mm in diameter, 44.3mm lug-to-lug, and 11.7mm in thickness. The display is protected by a box-shaped sapphire crystal, treated with an anti-reflective coating on its inner surface to maximize clarity. The dial presents a deep burgundy tone. The band securing the timepiece is manufactured out of crocodile leather, with a width of 19mm at the lugs, and has a perimeter of 195mm. Total weight of watch sits at 61 grams.
