DescriptionThe Grand Seiko reference SBGW258, part of the Elegance Collection, is a modern re-creation of the inaugural Grand Seiko watch originally released on December 18, 1960. Commemorating the 60th anniversary of Grand Seiko, this timepiece faithfully mirrors the design of the original while incorporating updated features. The case, constructed from 18k yellow gold, has a diameter of 38.0mm, a lug-to-lug measurement of 45.8mm, and a thickness of 10.9mm, diverging slightly from the original's 35mm case diameter to suit contemporary preferences. The case back is crafted from sapphire crystal, offering a view of the meticulously finished movement, and is secured with six screws. Protection for the dial comes from a dual-curved sapphire crystal, treated with an anti-reflective coating on its inner surface.

Powering the SBGW258 is the manually wound Caliber 9S64 movement. This movement, incorporating 24 jewels, provides a substantial power reserve of approximately 72 hours (3 days). The Caliber 9S64 is built for a very impressive level of accuracy. Its mean daily rate is specified as +5 to -3 seconds per day, with a normal usage accuracy of +10 to -1 seconds per day. The dial's hour markers are 18k gold, signified by the distinctive star mark. A brown crocodile leather strap, 19mm in width, is paired with an 18k Yellow Gold three-fold clasp with push button release. It is splash resistant.
