DescriptionThe Grand Seiko reference SBGW257 is a modern reinterpretation of the foundational Grand Seiko model initially launched in 1960. This contemporary version maintains the aesthetic essence of the original while incorporating updated materials and manufacturing techniques. The case, crafted from Platinum 950, measures 38.0mm in diameter, an increase from the original's 35mm, presenting a more current presence on the wrist. Its lug-to-lug distance is 45.8mm, with a thickness of 10.9mm. The case back is a see-through design, secured with six screws, granting a clear view of the meticulously finished movement. A dual-curved sapphire crystal, treated with an anti-reflective coating on its inner surface, covers the dial. This improves legibility by reducing glare.

The SBGW257 houses the Caliber 9S64, a manual-winding movement. This caliber provides a power reserve of approximately 72 hours, or three days, when fully wound. Its precision is noteworthy, with a mean daily rate variance of +5 to -3 seconds per day, under controlled testing condition. This accuracy changes slightly during normal use with the accuracy specifications being +10 to -1 seconds per day. The movement also provides resistance to magnetic fields up to 4,800 A/m. The dial of the SBGW257 features 18k gold hour markers, and the Grand Seiko name is sharply engraved, as the dial itself uses 18k gold.
