Quick TakeThis Lucerne Edition isn't just telling time; it's putting on a mechanical show right on your wrist! Forget hiding the good stuff – Chronoswiss throws open the curtains with the Open Gear design, letting you peek at the intricate dance of the train wheel bridges. The regulator layout separates the hours, minutes, and seconds, giving each its own stage. Up top, the hours tick away in their own little world, while the big central hand sweeps the minutes, and the small seconds dial at six pulses with life. That hand-guilloched base dial adds a serious touch of old-world craft, a cool contrast to the modern skeletonization above it. It's like seeing the watch's brain and heart working together. And the details! The blue rotor, the Trigono hands with lume, even the hand-bent minute hand – it all screams meticulous attention. Strapped in Louisiana gator leather, rocking 100m water resistance, and powered by the robust C.299 automatic, this limited edition (just 50 made!) blends technical prowess with undeniable visual flair. It’s a conversation starter that respects tradition while boldly showing off its inner workings.
DescriptionThe Chronoswiss Flying Regulator Open Gear Lucerne Edition, reference CH-8753.1-SIBLB, is housed within a multi-component stainless steel case comprising 16 individual parts. Its architecture features a diameter measuring 41 mm and a height of 13.85 mm, accommodating a strap width of 21 mm. The case construction utilizes a screw-down case back, finished with a satin texture and inset with a sapphire crystal for viewing the internal mechanism. The primary case body exhibits a dual finish, incorporating partly polished surfaces and partly vertical satin finishing, complemented by a traditional onion-style crown. Securing the front is a polished screw-down bezel, notable for its full thread design and side knurling, which frames a curved, non-reflecting sapphire crystal. This assembly ensures water resistance rated to 10 bar, equivalent to a depth of 100 meters.

Powering this timepiece is the automatic Caliber C.299 movement, operating at a frequency of 4 Hz, corresponding to 28,800 alternations per hour (A/h). This mechanism provides an approximate power reserve of 42 hours and incorporates 31 jewels within its structure. The movement's finishing includes a rhodium-plated pallet featuring spiral offsets, circular-grained bridges, and screws that are either thermally blued or polished. Visible through the exhibition case back is the skeletonized rotor, which is galvanically blued, engraved with Geneva Stripes, and mounted on a ball bearing system for efficient winding. The dial presentation is complex, constructed on two levels. The lower level is distinguished by its hand-applied engine-turning (guilloche) and a galvanized silver finish. Positioned above this are screwed-on skeletonized train wheel bridges and distinct funnel-like structures delineating the hour and second displays. Time indication employs an off-center hours display located at the 12 o'clock position, a central minutes hand, and a small seconds sub-dial situated at 6 o'clock. The hands are lacquered "Trigono" shape, featuring Super-LumiNova inlays for legibility; the minute hand is uniquely bent by hand, and the seconds hand design is described as innovative. The timepiece is secured by a hand-sewn Louisiana alligator leather strap equipped with a folding clasp. A key special feature remains the elaborate three-dimensional dial architecture, particularly the signature guilloche pattern on the base dial, executed by hand for this limited edition of 50 pieces.
