Quick TakeTalk about a conversation starter! The Flying Regulator Open Gear isn't just telling time; it's performing it right on your wrist. Chronoswiss rips up the rulebook, exposing the intricate dance of the gears usually hidden away. That green, hand-guilloched base dial pops against the mechanical ballet happening above it – the skeletonized bridges and funnel displays are pure industrial art. It’s a regulator, so hours, minutes, and seconds get their own stages, demanding a different way of reading the flow of time. The C.299 automatic hums away reliably inside its robust steel casing, visible through the back like a secret window into the watch's soul. With only 35 ever made, strapping this on feels like joining an exclusive club of gearheads who appreciate when mechanics become mesmerizing. The alligator strap finishes it off, adding a touch of traditional luxury to a seriously avant-garde machine. It's technical, yes, but with a playful, almost rebellious spirit.
DescriptionThe Chronoswiss Flying Regulator, reference CH-8753-GREBK, is housed in a 16-part stainless steel case measuring 41 mm in diameter and 13.85 mm in height. Its construction features a combination of polished and vertical satin finishes, complemented by a classic onion crown. Affixed to the case is a polished screw-down bezel, characterized by a full thread and distinctive side knurling, which secures a curved, non-reflecting sapphire crystal. The case back is a screw-down type with a satin finish and incorporates a sapphire crystal window for viewing the movement. Water resistance is rated at 10 bar, equivalent to 100 meters. The lug width for strap attachment is specified at 21 mm.

Powering this instrument is the Caliber C.299 automatic movement, operating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 alternations per hour) and providing an approximate power reserve of 42 hours. This complex mechanism contains 31 jewels. The movement's finish includes rhodium-plated pallets and bridges adorned with spiral offsets, along with thermally blued or rhodium-plated and polished screws. Visible through the exhibition case back is the skeletonized rotor, finished in green, featuring Côtes de Genève and Colimaçon patterns, and rotating on a ball bearing system. The dial presentation is a defining element, employing an intricate two-level construction. The lower level showcases hand-guilloche work, while the upper level features screwed-on skeletonized train wheel bridges and funnel-like structures for the hour and second displays, embodying the "Open Gear" concept. Time is indicated via off-centre hours positioned at 12:00, central minutes, and small seconds at 6:00. The lacquered "Trigono" hands feature Super-LumiNova inlays for legibility, with the minute hand being bent by hand and an innovative seconds hand design. This model is designated as a limited edition of 35 pieces.
